Find the Right Cooker

How do I choose a cooker?

To choose a cooker you will need to consider the space it will fit into and the fuel type you want i.e Electric, Gas, or Dual Fuel.

How is it going to fit into my kitchen?

Cookers are freestanding, you can stand them on their own or neatly between your kitchen units. They come in three standard width sizes; 50cm, 55cm and 60cm.

Make sure to measure up your space carefully, before setting your sights on a cooker and ensure it'll be able to reach the fuel source as well as a plug socket.

Which cookers are best for energy efficiency?

Fan assisted ovens can speed up the cooking process by around 10 minutes for every hour its used, which means you'll be able to turn off the oven sooner. With a glass door you'll be able to check on food without interrupting the temperature inside, so the oven won't need to work hard to regain that temperature.

There are some ovens with double, triple and even quadruple glazed doors, to lock in heat, making them more energy efficient. With an oven that has a programmable timer you'll be able to set the start and finish time of the oven, so no time will be wasted, making your cooking more energy efficient.
